Length of Bedford Ave

This was the first big ride after my friends and I all got bikes. Memorial Day 2025, it was colder and windier than you’d want on the first day of summer, but that didn’t deter us. We rode down to Brighton Beach, stopped at the biggest Tashkent Supermarket location, the one that’s mostly hot bar and only a little bit grocery store. On the beach we feasted.
When we were packing up I mentioned I’d always wanted to travel the length of Bedford Ave, the longest street in Brooklyn. So we did it—easy. At the northern end of the avenue, in Williamsburg, the street was closed off for a little block party. Someone gave us plates of food. There was even a banner marking the end of the avenue.
